It's that time of the year to get your information to us for this years CSA.
The Saturday market begins April 17th and Tuesday market begins May 11th
We are going to try a different way again this year. This is going to be a minimum of $200.00 and maximum of $400.00 deposited with us and each week your purchases will be deducted from this. Each week you will know how much is left in your account and you can always add more if you would like. You will receive a weekly email probably on Friday morning to let you know what is available. You then have a choice to email us what you want and we pack the very best of the best for you or you can choose what you want at the market between 8 am to noon. Also starting May 11th we are adding another day Tuesday from 2pm to 6pm for your shopping convenience. On either or both of these days you can apply your credit for purchase. There will not be a yearly fee!
We have talked with other farms and they said their customers preferred this better. We will keep a record of how much credit you have weekly and let you know before the next shopping week.

We have had many people ask us about a CSA. Dean and I have given it a lot of thought and have decided we would offer a CSA but it will not be the traditional kind. It is a lot of pressure knowing people have paid you a head of time for produce that is to be grown in the future. We never know what the weather will be like, and a thunder storm with wind and hail could destroy everything we planted in a matter of minutes. This would leave you our customer with no produce for the season.
In the traditional CSA, you pay all the money up front before season begins. This gives the farmer money to purchase seeds and supplies to run the farm that year. Usually half is required by the beginning in January. This would be tough for many families since Christmas would have just passed. You would also be signing an agreement not to hold us liable for goods you prepaid for that you might not receive related to disasters. You actually are taking a risk just like we are. This is your investment in the farm.
Because Dean and I would be so distraught if this happened we came up with a better plan that is a win win for you our customers and ourselves.
FIRST COME FIRST SERVED
Cost is $50.00 up front. This is for the opportunity to pre-order. There are no guarantees that we will have what you want when you place your order, but I will confirm your order the night before pick up. We find this happens a lot at the market. People have come at 1130 looking for eggs and everyone has already sold out. The early bird always gets the worm!
The way this works is by Feb. 1st you send your $50.00 fee. This is for us to create a profile for each of you, your likes dislikes, allergies and it provides 2 heavy duty food grade boxes for us to pack what you order. We will have these profiles for you to fill out, available before the end of this years market. If you don't pick one up there, we will be happy to send via email if you have an email address and if not by mail. We will still be at North Hills Farmers Market every Saturday from 8-12 sharp and this is where you will pick up your order.
Each week on Monday for Wednesday pick up and Thursdays for Saturday pick up.You will receive an email with what will be available for purchase that Wednesday or Saturday. This will include all prices. All you have to do is place your order by Tuesday afternoon or Friday afternoon depending on your pick up day so that we can pack your box. There are NO minimum dollar amounts you must spend. No more getting items in your boxes that you really don't like or want. You choose exactly what you want and how much you want to spend. The only catch is that it is on a first come first serve basis that we will fill the orders. We welcome standing orders. You definitely are guaranteed to get the items you ordered as long as they are available.
No risk for you and no pressure or obligation for us. We feel this is a win win for all of us.
We must know by January 2nd 2009 if you are going to be a part of this CSA. This is when we begin planting our seeds for spring harvest. Depending on how many people join we want to have enough produce for everyone.
